Paddington Halloween is a community event for families. It’s a great chance to meet your neighbours!
Paddington Halloween organizes a neighbourhood trick or treat and hosts a home-made haunted house in our garage on the evening of the 31st of October.
Trick or Treat is a self-guided walk with your friends and family to participating houses to show off your costumes and collect a lolly (candy) from the householder. Look for the orange balloons, ribbons, streamers or decorations for participating trick or treat houses. Each year we drop a letter into our neighbours to ask for their participation. We strive to provide a safe environment where children are welcome to take part in this fun tradition. Participation in trick or treat and the haunted house is undertaken at your own risk.
On the Trick or Treat route is the Hayward St Haunted House (number 40) where you can stop, knock for candy and walk through our haunted house.
Built in our garage as a walk-through experience, the Haunted house is for kids – however, they should be a little more robust and probably over the age of 6 to give you a guide. (Parents are very welcome to walk through and check it out first!) For the younger or more sensitive kids, we also have a child-friendly display on our veranda and at the front of our house. All neighbours and their friends are welcome.
Costumes are encouraged if you’re trick or treating, and they don’t need to be scary – you can wear whatever you like. Remember to bring your bag to collect your lollies!
Bring a gold coin to help local families
As we did last year, Paddington Halloween is raising money for charity and all proceeds from the donations on the door of the haunted house will go to our chosen charity.
This year in 2019, we are teaming up with Samuel Glancy – a very impressive 11 year old who raises money for a number of charities. Samuel’s work with Kids4Kids caught our attention as he strives to assist families who struggle to meet their “back to school costs” including stationery, books, texts, uniforms etc with his School Supply Drive. You can read more about Samuel G. Photography and Fundraiser here.
Thank you very much for your support in donating to this important and worthy cause.
